Sharp & Carter has partnered with an established Australian organisation to appoint an experienced IT Manager to lead its technology function across a multi-site environment.

Based at the organisation's Brisbane head office, this highly visible position is responsible for the performance, security and continuous improvement of its technology infrastructure, systems and services.

The role combines strategic planning, team leadership and vendor management with direct involvement in operational delivery, technical problem-solving and project execution. Cybersecurity will be central to the position, alongside infrastructure management, service delivery, digital transformation and ERP evaluation.

The Opportunity

This role will suit a practical and commercially minded technology leader who is comfortable moving between strategy and execution.

You will lead the internal IT function, oversee managed service providers and work closely with senior leaders and business stakeholders to ensure technology supports operational priorities, growth and compliance requirements.

This is not a purely governance-focused role. You will remain actively involved in technical delivery, service desk operations, projects and the continuous improvement of the organisation's technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operation and continuous improvement of the organisation's IT environment.
• Manage and develop the internal IT team.
• Oversee infrastructure across multiple locations, including servers, networks, cloud environments and end-user devices.
• Manage MSPs, technology vendors, contracts, procurement and service performance.
• Maintain hands on involvement in infrastructure administration and issue resolution.
• Lead technology projects aligned with business priorities, budgets and delivery expectations.
• Contribute to ERP evaluation and potential implementation or enhancement.
• Drive digital transformation, automation and process improvement.
• Oversee service desk operations and SLA performance.
• Strengthen cybersecurity across threat detection, incident response, data protection, vulnerability management and patching.
• Maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, IT policies and compliance frameworks.
• Partner with senior leaders to align technology investment with organisational objectives.

About You

You will be an experienced IT leader with the technical depth to remain close to delivery and the leadership capability to provide direction across a distributed business.

Ideally, you will bring:

• At least five years' experience in IT management or senior technology leadership.
• Strong experience across infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity and business applications.
• Experience leading teams and managing MSPs, vendors, contracts, budgets and SLAs.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, PowerShell and Remote Desktop Services.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Microsoft cloud applications.
• Knowledge of VMware or Nutanix hyper converged infrastructure.
• Experience across cybersecurity, incident response, disaster recovery and compliance.
• Exposure to ERP, transformation, automation and technology projects.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and problem solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Linux, thin client computing or Progress OpenEdge would be advantageous.

Location

This is a fully onsite position based at the organisation's Brisbane head office. The role supports multiple locations, with some travel between sites potentially required.
