Application Developer
Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid)
Role Overview
An opportunity is available for a Senior Full Stack Developer to support a growing portfolio of application development initiatives within Power Delivery Technology. This role is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting business-critical applications while working with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions. The ideal candidate is a software developer with experience across the full development lifecycle and the ability to lead projects from concept through implementation. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, business engagement, and project ownership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, enhance, and maintain scalable web, mobile, and enterprise applications.
  • Lead technical discussions, requirements gathering sessions, and solution design efforts.
  • Create and manage user stories, technical documentation, development tasks, and application roadmaps.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and project teams to deliver scalable solutions and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Support migration and modernization efforts, including converting existing applications into OutSystems.
  • Contribute to application architecture, integrations, and platform best practices.
  • Troubleshoot application and integration issues, manage defects, and provide ongoing production support.
  • Mentor and support other developers across development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong full-stack development background with experience in web application development.
  • Experience with .NET, C#, Python, or a comparable object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience with database development, including SQL databases, data modeling, or schema design.
  • Hands-on experience with web services and designing, developing, or supporting REST and/or SOAP API integrations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and work independently.
  • Experience gathering requirements, creating user stories, and working directly with business stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with OutSystems or other low-code platforms.
  • Utility industry, asset management, or Power Delivery application support experience.
  • Experience with application modernization initiatives or leading development teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Azure DevOps, Jira, or related tools.
  • GIS experience, including familiarity with Esri or ArcGIS platforms.
  • Experience with Fulcrum or another mobile inspection or data collection platform.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern integration patterns.
Work Environment
This position has a hybrid work schedule with a combination of remote work and onsite collaboration in Birmingham, Alabama. Occasional onsite meetings, project workshops, testing activities, and operational support will be required.
