HCL is looking for motivated fresh graduates or early‑career professionals who are interested in building a career in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), and License Compliance. This role focuses on supporting SAM operations, learning licensing models, and assisting senior consultants in delivering cost optimization and compliance outcomes for enterprise customers.
\n\n\n\nKey Responsibilities
\n\nSupport day-to-day Software Asset Management operations under guidance of senior SAM consultants.
\nAssist in maintaining accurate software inventory and entitlement records.
\nSupport license compliance checks and basic reconciliation activities.
\nAssist in identifying license usage gaps and optimization opportunities using defined SAM processes.
\nLearn and follow SAM best practices and industry standards (ISO 19770 – awareness level).
\nSupport data collection and validation for:
\nSoftware entitlements
\nUsage data
\nContract and renewal information
\nAssist in software contract reviews to understand licensing terms and conditions.
\nSupport SAM activities for:
\nEnterprise applications (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe – exposure level)
\nCloud and SaaS environments (basic understanding)
\nParticipate in SAM activities related to migrations, acquisitions, and operational changes under supervision.
\nMaintain documentation, reports, and dashboards related to SAM activities.
\nWork closely with cross‑functional teams (IT, Procurement, Finance) to gather required inputs.
\nParticipate in continuous learning, training programs, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
\n\n\nKey Skills (Entry-Level Expectations)
\n\nBasic understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) concepts.
\nAwareness of software licensing fundamentals, especially:
\nMicrosoft (basic)
\nAdobe (basic)
\nExposure to or understanding of SAM tools such as:
\nSnow
\nFlexera
\n(Lab, training, or conceptual exposure is sufficient)
\nAwareness of software lifecycle management (procurement, deployment, usage, retirement).
\nBasic understanding of cloud and SaaS licensing concepts.
\nAnalytical mindset with attention to detail.
\n\n\nAreas of Learning & Exposure
\n\nIT Asset Management fundamentals
\nSAM maturity models and process improvements (learning level)
\nSoftware licensing and contracts (foundational understanding)
\nSAM operations and reporting
\nContinuous process improvement practices
\n\n\nSoft Skills
\n\nStrong willingness to learn and adapt.
\nGood verbal and written communication skills.
\nStrong documentation and reporting skills.
\nCustomer-focused mindset.
\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment.
\nStructured and detail‑oriented approach to problem solving.
\n\n\nExperience & Qualification
\n\n0–2 years of experience (Freshers are welcome).
\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, Finance, or a related field.
\nInternship, coursework, or project exposure to IT Asset Management, licensing, or compliance is a plus.
\n\n\nCertifications (Optional / Preferred)
\n\nITAM / SAM fundamentals certification (preferred, not mandatory).
\nWillingness to pursue SAM or licensing certifications as part of career growth.
\n\n\nA candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to HCL policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to HCL policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off (PTO) per year (some positions are eligible for unlimited PTO); and 10 paid holidays per year.
