Job Summary

Value Technology is seeking a versatile Apigee Platform & API Developer who can manage the Apigee platform infrastructure while also designing, developing, deploying, and supporting API proxies and integrations.

This is a dual-role position requiring strong hands-on expertise in Apigee platform administration, Apigee API proxy development, API security, platform monitoring, troubleshooting, and backend integrations. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable working directly with clients, architects, developers, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and maintain the Google Apigee / Apigee X platform.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and manage Apigee API proxies and shared flows.
  • Configure organizations, environments, instances, environment groups, hostnames, deployments, and runtime components.
  • Develop and configure Apigee policies for security, traffic management, mediation, transformation, and error handling.
  • Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, TLS/SSL, and other authentication mechanisms.
  • Manage API products, developer apps, developer portals, quotas, rate limits, and access controls.
  • Integrate APIs with backend applications, microservices, databases, and enterprise systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Target Endpoints, Proxy Endpoints, Service Callouts, Shared Flows, and Flow Hooks.
  • Monitor Apigee platform health, API traffic, latency, errors, availability, and overall performance.
  • Use Apigee Analytics and monitoring tools to identify performance issues and operational trends.
  • Troubleshoot API proxy, platform, networking, authentication, certificate, and backend connectivity issues.
  • Manage API deployments across development, QA, UAT, and production environments.
  • Support CI/CD automation for Apigee API and configuration deployments.
  • Work with DevOps teams on Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Participate in platform upgrades, configuration changes, certificate renewals, and environment maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain API governance, standards, naming conventions, security controls, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with architects and development teams to design scalable and reusable API solutions.
  • Participate in production support, incident management, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Work directly with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, explain technical solutions, and provide status updates.
  • Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams, API specifications, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in API development, API management, integration, or related technologies.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Apigee / Apigee X.
  • Strong experience in Apigee platform administration and configuration.
  • Hands-on expertise in Apigee API proxy development.
  • Experience with Apigee organizations, environments, instances, environment groups, hostnames, API products, and developer apps.
  • Strong knowledge of Apigee policies, including:
  • OAuth
  • VerifyAPIKey
  • JWT
  • Quota
  • Spike Arrest
  • CORS
  • AssignMessage
  • RaiseFault
  • ServiceCallout
  • JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML, and API lifecycle management.
  • Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, certificates, TLS/SSL, and API security.
  • Experience integrating Apigee with backend services, microservices, and enterprise applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance-monitoring experience.
  • Experience with Apigee Analytics and logging/monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder-management skills.
