RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking an L1 DC Tech in Abernathy, TX.

Summary

The L1 Data Center Technician provides hands-on support for data center operations, infrastructure installations, and hardware deployments. This entry-level role is responsible for assisting with rack installations, structured cabling, equipment organization, and basic infrastructure maintenance while following established procedures and safety standards. The ideal candidate has a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a desire to build a career in data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of data center hardware and infrastructure
  • Support rack-and-stack activities, including mounting equipment, installing rails, and organizing rack components
  • Perform basic structured cabling tasks for copper and fiber infrastructure, including cable routing, labeling, and management
  • Help maintain rack infrastructure, including PDUs, cable management systems, and associated hardware
  • Follow technical documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to complete assigned tasks
  • Support basic airflow management practices to ensure optimal equipment performance and cooling efficiency
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure data center environment
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and security policies while working within technical facilities
  • Collaborate with team members to support data center projects and daily operational activities
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Basic knowledge of rack infrastructure, including PDUs, rails, and cable management systems
  • Basic understanding of data center environments and IT hardware components
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a technical environment
  • Understanding of airflow management concepts within data center environments
  • Familiarity with structured cabling practices; Experience with copper and/or fiber cabling is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and processes
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to lift equipment, work in confined rack spaces, and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to data center operations or IT infrastructure support
  • Familiarity with DX cooling or direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling technologies
  • Technical training, certification, or coursework related to IT, networking, or data center operations

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
