Job description

Two newly created opportunities

  • Health & Safety Advisor – Fresh (Yatala, QLD)

  • Health & Safety Advisor – Ambient (Ingleburn, NSW)

At Real Pet Food Company (RPF), we believe that when we Feed Fresher, we Live Better. And that belief extends beyond the nutrition we create for pets. It’s also about creating a workplace where our people can go home safe and well every day.

We’re growing, we’re ambitious, and we’re challenging the way the world thinks about pet nutrition. With a clear focus on growing our Cat and Pet Specialty businesses, continuing to lead the market in Fresh Pet Nutrition, and spearheading our expansion into Asia, we’re investing in the people and capabilities that will help us get there.

That’s where you come in!

We have two newly created Health & Safety Advisor opportunities, one focused on Fresh Product Manufacturing and the other on Ambient Product Manufacturing

Both roles are integral to our strategic growth and reflect an important commitment: as we grow our business, we will continue to raise the bar when it comes to the health, safety and wellbeing of our people.

Reporting to the Head of Quality & Safety you’ll work closely with operational leaders and frontline teams to embed safety into everyday operations. These roles offer the opportunity to influence, challenge and drive meaningful improvements in environments where safety matters every single day.

What will you be doing?

This is not a role where you’ll be sitting behind a desk waiting for safety issues to come to you. Our manufacturing environments are busy, hands-on and fast-paced, with end-to-end production processes, high-speed equipment and machinery, and the complexities that come with food manufacturing.

You’ll be out on the floor, building relationships, partnering with leaders and frontline teams, identifying risks, delivering risk reduction projects and helping turn good safety intentions into everyday actions.

Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and our broader People & Culture team, you’ll help embed safety into the way we work — not as an added step, but as an essential part of how we deliver great outcomes.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • Partnering with site leaders and frontline teams to strengthen safety ownership and accountability.

  • Being visible on the floor, identifying hazards and working collaboratively to implement practical, effective controls.

  • Supporting risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective actions, with a focus on learning, prevention and continuous improvement.

  • Helping leaders build their capability and confidence to manage safety as part of their everyday responsibilities.

  • Monitoring safety performance, identifying trends and translating data into meaningful action.

  • Supporting compliance with relevant WHS legislation, standards and company requirements.

  • Leading risk reduction projects to further embed safety into our every day ways of working

  • Challenging the status quo, improving processes and helping create an environment where everyone feels empowered to speak up and look out for one another.

Above all, you’ll help make safety part of our culture — where doing the right thing is simply how we do things.

Two roles. Two manufacturing environments. One shared ambition.

Health & Safety Advisor – Fresh

Location: Yatala, Queensland

Reporting to: Head of Quality & Safety

Travel: Weekly Travel to Game Meat Processing based at Wulkuraka

Fresh is at the heart of our business and a key pillar of our growth strategy. Our Fresh manufacturing environments work with raw protein and short shelf-life products, where timing, coordination and operational pace are critical.

These are dynamic, hands-on environments where decisions need to be made quickly, risks need to be managed proactively, and safety must keep pace with production.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring previous experience in a food manufacturing environment, ideally a wet processing environment where raw protein is a key ingredient. Experience working with short shelf-life products is essential to working across multiple sites building/improving safety culture, along with the ability to hit the ground running and build credibility quickly with operational teams.

Based at our Yatala site, you’ll also travel to our GMP operation at Wulkuraka once a week, building relationships and supporting consistent safety standards across both locations.

Health & Safety Advisor – Ambient

Location: Ingleburn, New South Wales

Reporting to: Head of Quality & Safety

Travel: Travel to our Dubbo and Somersby sites at least once a fortnight

Our Ambient manufacturing operations are another important part of our growth story. With established production processes, high-speed machinery and complex end-to-end manufacturing operations, this environment offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference to safety performance.

Based at Ingleburn, you’ll also travel to our Dubbo and Somersby sites at least once a fortnight, helping strengthen safety practices, build relationships and support a consistent approach across our manufacturing network.

For both roles, we’re looking for people who are ready to get involved, build relationships and make an immediate contribution.

What will make you successful?

You’ll bring:

  • 5 - 7 yrs Experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or equivalent role within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similarly complex operational environment.

  • Ideally, experience in wet manufacturing environments involving raw protein, high-speed machinery and production-line operations.

  • For the Fresh role, demonstrated experience working with short shelf-life products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • A strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, incident investigation and safety systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in building a WHS System and driving a positive change in safety culture

  • The confidence to engage with everyone from frontline operators to senior leaders, building trust and influencing positive change.

  • A hands-on, practical approach and the ability to work at the pace of the operation.

  • Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the confidence to challenge when something isn’t right.

  • A continuous improvement mindset and a genuine passion for helping people work safely.

  • Relevant WHS qualifications and the technical capability to translate your knowledge into action.

  • The flexibility and willingness to travel to support our wider manufacturing operations as outlined for each role.

You’re proactive, curious and solutions-focused. You don’t just identify problems — you work with people to solve them. You understand that sustainable safety improvement comes from strong relationships, visible leadership and consistent follow-through.
