Job Description

Security Operations Team Leader (15-Month Fixed-Term Contract) Remote with occasional travel | Up to £78,000 DOE

We're seeking an experienced Security Operations Team Leader to lead a small, high-performing Security Operations team within a modern Microsoft security environment. You'll combine people leadership, incident management, stakeholder engagement and hands-on security operations, helping to strengthen cyber resilience while driving continuous improvement across security tooling, processes and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Security Analysts, ensuring effective triage, escalation and incident response.
  • Oversee day-to-day Security Operations, monitoring, detection and response activities.
  • Drive improvements across Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender and the wider M365 security ecosystem.
  • Utilise KQL to enhance threat hunting, reporting, automation and detection capabilities.
  • Manage third-party security vendors, ensuring service levels and contractual obligations are delivered.
  • Support security audits, risk management activities and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application and business teams to improve security posture and reduce risk.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience leading or managing a SOC team.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies, including Sentinel and Defender.
  • Practical experience with KQL.
  • Experience managing security incidents in a busy operational environment.
  • Knowledge of web application firewalls, web proxies, email security platforms and third-party risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience within a regulated or medium-to-large organisation would be advantageous.
