This position has a home-based office in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area and requires the use of a personal vehicle with up to 25% local travel.

Day-to-Day

You will join a team dedicated to helping commercial and industrial customers reduce their energy use and optimize their system performance by providing technical expertise through energy efficiency programs, training initiatives, and direct-to-customer consulting services. Some of the day-to-day activities you would be involved with might include:

  • Identifying and quantifying energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Performing energy and economic analyses.
  • Reviewing energy assessments, opportunities, and calculations.
  • Collaborating with customers, assisting with technical questions, and developing projects.
  • Preparing reports and delivering presentations.
  • Conducting site surveys, system investigations, and facilities assessments.
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to team members, fostering knowledge-sharing and continuous learning.
  • Supporting customers with utility energy efficiency programs.
  • Traveling to customer sites as needed (up to 25% of the time).

The pay range for this role is $93,300–$135,000 per year.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience with a focus on energy engineering, energy consulting, building system performance consulting, or energy-related systems and demonstrated experience performing complex engineering work, including: 
      • Conducting energy assessments, facility evaluations, and system investigations within commercial and industrial facilities.
      • Identifying, quantifying, and prioritizing energy efficiency, operational improvement, and decarbonization opportunities.
      • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of commercial and industrial building systems, including HVAC, lighting, pumps, chilled water, hot water, steam, compressed air, industrial processes, and building automation systems (BAS).
      • Performing comprehensive energy and economic analyses using utility data, trend data, weather normalization, regression analysis, engineering calculations, and other analytical methods.
      • Utilizing building management systems (BMS), BAS, field measurements, and operational data to diagnose performance issues and identify improvement opportunities.
      • Developing energy savings calculations, engineering models, and economic analyses to support project recommendations and implementation.
      • Applying commissioning, retro-commissioning, measurement and verification, and system optimization principles.
      • Conducting site investigations and technical evaluations and translating findings into actionable recommendations, collaborating directly with customers, facility staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
      • Preparing professional technical reports and presenting findings to clients and stakeholders.
      • Managing multiple projects simultaneously while exercising sound technical judgment and working with limited supervision.
      • Building effective relationships with customers, contractors, utility representatives, and internal project teams.
  • Knowledge of decarbonization strategies for buildings and industries.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Preferred certifications: CEM, CEA, CMVP, EBCP, and PE.
