Role PurposeThe Power BI Developer will build and maintain semantic models, measures and dashboards that provide business leaders with self-service, drill-down visibility of organisational performance.Working closely with the Reporting Lead, Data Engineering teams and key business stakeholders, the role will translate agreed business requirements and designs into reliable, scalable and high-performing Power BI solutions. The position has a strong focus on build quality, performance and business adoption, with a practical, delivery-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Power BI semantic models and DAX measures, creating reusable and ready-to-consume datasets that provide a consistent single source of truth.
• Develop intuitive Power BI dashboards and reports based on agreed business requirements and wireframes, applying established design and UX standards.
• Write and optimise SQL against enterprise data sources, including Teradata and Amazon Redshift, to prepare efficient and well-structured data for reporting.
• Engage with business stakeholders and SMEs to gather, clarify and document reporting requirements, including KPIs, metric definitions and user requirements.
• Translate business requirements into conceptual designs and wireframes and validate these with stakeholders before development.
• Partner closely with Data Engineering teams to validate data readiness, grain, joins and overall data quality.
• Optimise semantic models and report performance, including refresh schedules, query efficiency and capacity utilisation.
• Test, document and deploy Power BI reports through established release processes, supporting UAT and stakeholder sign-off.
• Deliver solutions to agreed specifications and timeframes with a strong focus on accuracy, quality and attention to detail.
• Support business users with report enhancements, issue resolution and the ongoing adoption of self-service analytics.

Required Experience

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, Commerce, a quantitative discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience delivering enterprise-level dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Advanced Power BI skills, including DAX, Power Query and semantic data modelling.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling concepts, including star schemas, relationships and row-level security.
• Advanced SQL skills with a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including fact and dimension tables, data grain and historical data.
• Experience working closely with Data Engineering teams within enterprise data environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to operate effectively in environments with changing priorities.
• Experience with Teradata and/or Amazon Redshift is highly desirable.
• Previous experience within telecommunications or another large, complex enterprise environment would be advantageous.
• A proactive, delivery-focused and collaborative approach with a strong "can-do" attitude.
