Job Description

CocuSocial is a culinary experience company that brings people together through fun, hands-on cooking and baking classes hosted at local venues. We partner with talented chefs and hospitality spaces to create memorable experiences where guests can learn new skills, connect with others, and enjoy great food in a relaxed, social environment.

Our classes are designed to be approachable for beginners while still offering plenty to learn. From handmade pasta and dumplings to baking and pastry workshops, we make cooking an experience everyone can enjoy.

We're growing our presence in Toronto and looking for passionate culinary professionals to join our team and help bring exciting new experiences to the city.

CocuSocial is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Pastry Chef to lead hands-on baking and pastry classes at partner venues throughout Toronto.

This is a great opportunity for a pastry professional who enjoys sharing their knowledge, interacting with guests, and creating fun, memorable culinary experiences outside of a traditional restaurant or bakery setting.

Our classes are social, interactive, and designed for everyday food lovers. You'll guide guests through a specific recipe or technique, demonstrate key skills, and help participants create something delicious together. Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, with groups of approximately 8 to 26 guests.

What you'll do:

  • Lead engaging, hands-on baking and pastry classes for groups of adults with varying levels of experience.

  • Develop and teach approachable, crowd-pleasing pastry concepts that work well in a social class environment.

  • Demonstrate techniques, explain recipes, and guide guests through each stage of the baking process.

  • Create a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel comfortable asking questions, trying new techniques, and having fun.

  • Work with the CocuSocial team to finalize recipes, ingredient lists, equipment needs, and lesson plans.

  • Help ensure classes run smoothly and that guests leave with new skills and a memorable experience.

  • Participate in a site visit at the hosting venue before classes launch to confirm the space and equipment will meet the needs of the class.

Classes are generally scheduled on weekday evenings and weekends. This is a flexible, part-time, contract opportunity with the potential to teach recurring classes as our Toronto schedule grows.

We're looking for someone who is reliable, organized, personable, and genuinely excited about sharing their love of baking with others.

Required:

  • Professional experience in pastry, baking, or a related culinary field.

  • Strong knowledge of baking fundamentals, pastry techniques, and recipe execution.

  • Ability to explain techniques clearly and guide beginners through a recipe in an approachable way.

  • Comfortable speaking to and engaging with groups of approximately 8 to 26 guests.

  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.

  • Ability to follow and help develop structured recipes, ingredient lists, and lesson plans.

  • Reliable availability for some weekday evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to travel to partner venue within Toronto.

  • Current food safety certification, or willingness to obtain the required certification.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience teaching cooking or baking classes, leading demonstrations, or facilitating workshops.

  • Experience developing recipes and adapting professional techniques for home cooks.

  • A specialty in approachable, hands-on pastry concepts such as choux pastry, éclairs, cream puffs, macarons, cookies, tarts, or other popular baked goods.

  • Experience working independently and creating a positive guest experience.

What makes someone a great fit?

We're looking for a chef who is passionate about pastry but doesn't take themselves too seriously. You should enjoy sharing what you know, connecting with people, and making baking feel accessible to everyone. The ideal candidate can balance strong technical skills with a warm, engaging teaching style and understands that our classes are as much about the experience as they are about the finished product.

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
