IT Security Engineer | Chevy Chase, MD, United States | Remote

The Role

  • Design, develop, and implement secure systems within on-premises infrastructure.
  • Integrate security into system design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Collaborate with ISSOs, ISSMs, software engineers, system engineers, and government counterparts on systems and cyber security engineering tasks.
  • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and validate compliance using relevant tools.
  • Maintain and update application, network, and database scanning infrastructure.
  • Analyze vulnerability scans and ensure timely mitigation or risk acceptance according to DoD policies.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or a related field, with 8+ years of experience (equivalent experience in lieu of degree accepted).
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a Poly.
  • At least one DoD 8570.01-M IASAE Level II certification (CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, CSSLP, or CASP+ CE).
  • Experience reviewing cybersecurity vulnerabilities and planning mitigations/remediations.
  • Proficiency in architecting, designing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and deploying vulnerability scanning solutions.
  • Experience with XACTA, eMASS, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux/UNIX operating systems.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-171, 800-172, NIST SSDF, CMMC requirements, and CNSSI 1253.
