The Opportunity

Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking a Senior EUA Carbon Originator to join its growing Environmental Markets business in Amsterdam.

This is a high-impact front-office role focused on the development and growth of the firm's EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) franchise. The successful candidate will leverage an established network of compliance participants, originate and execute commercial opportunities, and play a key role in expanding the bank's presence across European carbon markets.

The role is particularly suited to senior professionals who have built or significantly grown carbon businesses and possess a strong track record of commercial success within compliance carbon markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate and develop new business opportunities across the EU carbon market.

• Build and manage strategic relationships with compliance entities, industrials, utilities, energy companies, and financial counterparties.

• Drive revenue growth across EUA products and carbon derivatives.

• Structure and execute transactions supporting clients' compliance and risk management requirements.

• Develop and grow a portfolio of high-value carbon market clients.

• Identify market opportunities arising from regulatory developments within the EU ETS.

• Collaborate with trading, structuring, and risk teams to deliver tailored solutions.

• Act as a market expert and trusted advisor to clients across the compliance carbon space.

• Take ownership of ambitious revenue and PnL objectives.

Candidate Profile

✔ Extensive experience within EUA Carbon Markets, EU ETS, and Compliance Carbon Trading

✔ Proven track record originating and managing client relationships across carbon markets.

✔ Experience generating significant revenues, ideally with a demonstrated track record of €7M-€10M+ annual PnL contribution.

✔ Strong understanding of:

• EU Allowances (EUAs)

• EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS)

• Compliance Carbon Markets

• Carbon Derivatives

• Carbon Hedging & Risk Management

• Environmental Market Regulation

✔ Established network across utilities, industrial emitters, energy companies, trading houses, and financial institutions.

✔ Strong commercial and entrepreneurial mindset.

✔ Ability to build, scale, and lead carbon origination activities.
