Gas Network Capacity Engineer (12-Month Fixed Term)

Gas Network Capacity Engineer (12-Month Fixed Term)
Join our Planning & Optimisation team and help shape the future of one of Australia's largest gas distribution networks.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the safe, reliable and sustainable delivery of energy for our customers while working alongside experienced engineers who value collaboration, curiosity and continuous improvement.
As part of our Asset Management team, you'll use your engineering knowledge to help plan how our network evolves to meet changing customer needs. Through modelling, analysis and long-term planning, you'll help ensure our network continues to support growing communities and businesses for years to come.
Your work will influence decisions around customer connections, network performance and future investment, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the entire network lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing
Network Planning & Analysis
- Develop and maintain hydraulic models of Jemena's gas distribution network.
- Assess network capacity to support residential, commercial and industrial customer growth.
- Explore future demand scenarios to help inform long-term planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve network performance, resilience and reliability.
- Support supply assurance and contingency planning activities.
- Work with colleagues across the business to develop practical solutions for evolving network needs.
Asset Planning & Investment
- Contribute to long-term asset strategies and network investment planning.
- Provide engineering analysis that supports future capital investment decisions.
- Help identify opportunities to improve network capability and customer outcomes.
- Support business cases with clear technical advice and evidence-based recommendations.
Working Together
- Build strong relationships with colleagues across Asset Management, Operations, Commercial and Project Delivery.
- Share technical knowledge in a way that supports informed decision making.
- Collaborate to develop practical, customer-focused solutions.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to a range of audiences.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and working collaboratively to improve essential infrastructure.
You may bring experience in one or several of the following areas:
- Gas distribution network modelling
- Hydraulic modelling of gas transmission or distribution systems
- Network capacity planning
- Customer connection assessments
- Supply assurance studies
- High-pressure gas pipeline engineering
- Distribution engineering
- Utility network planning or asset management
- Infrastructure planning across gas, water or energy
- Network performance analysis and optimisation
- Asset investment planning or engineering risk assessment
Technical Experience
Experience with one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Synergi Gas
- STONER
- Pipeline Studio
- GASWorkS
- GIS network analysis tools
- Hydraulic modelling software
- Engineering analysis and data visualisation tools
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or a related Engineering discipline.
- Eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineer status is advantageous but not essential.
