Job Description
We are seeking professional, dependable, and community-focused School Safety Officers to support a safe and structured learning environment within Gwinnett County Public Schools for the 2026-2027 School Year. This role is centered around prevention, visibility, and positive interaction with students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a visible presence on campus to deter and prevent safety concerns
- Monitor entrances, exits, and campus activity throughout assigned shifts
- Conduct routine patrols of school grounds and facilities
- Assist with arrival, dismissal, and high-traffic periods to ensure order and safety
- Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies
- Enforce school policies and safety procedures in a professional manner
- Provide support to school administrators and staff as needed
- Complete detailed incident and activity reports
Qualifications:
- Previous security, law enforcement, or school safety experience preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with students of all ages
- Professional, calm, and authoritative presence
- Ability to remain alert and proactive in a dynamic school environment
- Strong judgment and conflict resolution skills
- Must pass a comprehensive background screening in accordance with school district standards
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Must possess a valid Georgia 24-Hour Unarmed Security Officer Certification prior to start date
- Must be able to meet all clearance requirements required for placement within Gwinnett County Public Schools
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required
- $17//hour competitive pay
