Compensation: $30 - $35 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking an ADA Compliance Coordinator to ensure that all public-facing communications, digital content, and outreach materials are accessible and compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Based within the Office of Communication, this role serves as the primary liaison between communication staff and program areas to promote and provide equitable access to public health information for individuals with disabilities. The ADA Compliance Coordinator will oversee accessibility compliance, conduct audits, provide guidance and remediation for accessible documents and multimedia, deliver staff training, support inclusive communication strategies, coordinate auxiliary aids for public events, and monitor compliance metrics. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to equity, with a strong understanding of accessibility standards and tools.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Ensure all public-facing communications, digital content, and outreach materials meet ADA, Section 504, Section 508, and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards prior to public release.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accessibility workflows and standard operating procedures for accessibility, remediation, and oversight.
• Conduct regular accessibility audits of digital and print content, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
• Provide guidance and perform remediation work for the creation of accessible documents (PDFs, Word, PowerPoint) and multimedia (captioning, transcripts, alt text).
• Perform accessibility checks and tests on assets and materials using assistive technologies and compliance tools such as Adobe Acrobat, JAWS, WAVE, and PAC.
• Coordinate remediation of inaccessible content in collaboration with program staff and the Office of Communication.
• Ensure emergency and time-sensitive public health communications are accessible to all audiences.
• Develop and deliver training to communications staff and program teams on accessibility best practices and requirements.
• Serve as an internal subject matter expert on ADA accessibility and compliance in communications, providing technical assistance as needed.
• Support inclusive communication strategies that address the needs of individuals with disabilities and diverse populations.
• Coordinate auxiliary aids and services (e.g., interpreters, CART, accessible formats) for public meetings and events.
• Track compliance metrics and prepare reports for leadership and regulatory entities.
• Stay current on evolving accessibility laws, standards, and technologies, and recommend improvements based on audit findings and stakeholder feedback.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Communication, Public Health, Disability Studies, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in ADA accessibility, compliance, communications, or digital content management.
• Working knowledge of ADA and experience implementing accessibility requirements under WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
• Familiarity with accessibility software and compliance audit tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat for PDF tagging and remediation, JAWS screen reader, WAVE for color contrast, PAC for PDF testing).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) preferred.
• Experience in government or public health communications preferred.
• Familiarity with video assistive technologies (e.g., captioning tools) preferred.
• Knowledge of plain language and health literacy principles preferred.
