Job Description:
The Department of Health is seeking a Data Governance Lead to establish, lead, and mature a province-wide health data governance program. The role will ensure health data is trusted, secure, ethically used, standardized, and effectively leveraged for clinical transformation, analytics, research, and secondary use.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the provincial health data governance strategy and framework, including policies, standards, decision rights, accountability, data ownership, stewardship, and custodianship.
  • Translate health information legislation, including PHIPPA, into practical governance policies and operational guidance.
  • Develop data classification schemas, governance models, data standards, dictionaries, and governance artifacts.
  • Establish and support data governance committees, councils, and working groups.
  • Define responsibilities for Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Custodians.
  • Enable secure and compliant secondary use of health data for analytics, research, population health, performance management, and policy development.
  • Drive data quality, standardization, interoperability, access controls, privacy, and consent management.
  • Collaborate with Chief Privacy Officers, clinicians, SMEs, BI/Analytics teams, Department of Health, RHAs, SNB, and health-system executives.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, facilitation, consensus building, and public/patient data-literacy initiatives.
  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of data governance and stewardship projects.
 Education:
  • Level of education required.
 Work Mode:
  •  Remote, with travel to New Brunswick at least once per month
