The Opportunity

Our client, a leading European environmental and renewable energy brokerage, is seeking a Biomethane Broker to join its growing team in Amsterdam.

This is a front-office brokerage role focused on originating and facilitating biomethane transactions across Europe. The successful candidate will work closely with biomethane producers, project developers, utilities, gas suppliers, and trading houses, helping clients navigate a rapidly evolving renewable gas market.

The role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the growth of the European biomethane sector by identifying commercial opportunities, structuring transactions, and providing market insight across both physical gas and environmental products.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate and broker biomethane transactions across European markets.

• Build and manage relationships with producers, developers, utilities, industrials, and trading houses.

• Identify and execute commercial opportunities across physical biomethane and environmental attributes.

• Structure and negotiate spot and long-term agreements.

• Monitor market developments, pricing dynamics, and regulatory changes.

• Identify arbitrage opportunities across geographies, products, and support schemes.

• Provide market insight and strategic guidance to clients.

• Maintain strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks and certification schemes.

• Contribute to market liquidity and business growth initiatives.

Candidate Profile

✔ 2-6 years' experience within biomethane, renewable gas, environmental commodities, or related energy markets.

✔ Strong understanding of European gas markets and renewable energy certificates.

✔ Knowledge of:

• Biomethane Markets

• Renewable Gas

• Guarantees of Origin (GoOs)

• RED II & RED III

• ISCC & REDcert

• Environmental Products

• European Gas Markets

✔ Strong commercial and relationship-building skills.

✔ Proven ability to originate and execute transactions.

✔ Entrepreneurial and self-starting mindset.

✔ Ability to operate within evolving regulatory environments.

✔ Fluent English required; additional European languages are advantageous, particularly Dutch, German, Danish, or Spanish.
