We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer (Kotlin & TypeScript) to support a major public sector transformation programme focused on the modernisation and decomposition of Legacy probation systems.

This role would suit senior software engineers with strong experience delivering cloud-native applications, APIs and digital services within complex enterprise environments. You'll play a key role in building the next generation of platforms and services that will replace critical Legacy systems and support the wider transformation programme.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, you'll collaborate with architects, product teams, engineers and stakeholders to design, develop and deliver scalable, secure and resilient solutions using modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain full stack applications using Kotlin and TypeScript.
• Build cloud-native services and APIs within AWS environments.
• Develop scalable Back End services and modern Front End applications.
• Contribute to the modernisation and replacement of Legacy systems and services.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to implement solution designs and technical standards.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Ensure solutions are secure, resilient and performant.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews and architecture decisions.
• Work closely with delivery teams, product stakeholders and end users to translate requirements into working software.
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support knowledge sharing and promote engineering excellence across the programme.

Experience & Skills

• Strong commercial experience developing software with Kotlin and TypeScript.
• Proven experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and cloud-native development principles.
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience working with modern CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of testing strategies, including unit, integration and automated testing.
• Experience working within Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, product teams, designers and stakeholders.
• Experience delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes, ideally within the public sector, is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.

Contract Length: ASAP Start - Until 31st March

Location: Hybrid, onsite twice a month to client sites in London

Engagement Type: Outside IR35
