ATC Generic - Java Dev - L10/9

Role: Java Developer<br />Location: Newcastle (Hybrid, 3 days onsite a week)<br />Type: Fixed Term Contract Duration: 12 months<br />SHOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR SC Role Overview<br />We’re looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a high-performing engineering team delivering secure, scalable, enterprise-grade systems.

You’ll be working on modernising platforms using Spring Boot and microservices architecture, deploying into cloud environments (AWS), and contributing to best-in-class engineering practices.<br />This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-impact systems within a collaborative Agile environment.<br /> Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain Java-based microservices using JDK 11+ and Spring Boot<br />Design and build modular, scalable, and maintainable applications<br />Work with enterprise middleware including WebLogic Server and CAS SDK<br />Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to deploy solutions into AWS<br />Contribute to containerised deployments (Docker/Kubernetes)<br />Promote engineering best practices including:<br />Test Driven Development (TDD)<br />Continuous Integration / Continuous Testing<br />Coding standards &amp; branching strategies<br />Support system design by helping decompose monolithic systems into microservices<br />Partner with QA teams to ensure both functional and non-functional testing<br />Actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies✅ Required Skills &amp; Experience Strong hands-on experience with Java (JDK 11+)<br />Proven development experience using Spring Boot<br />Experience building and integrating microservices architectures<br />Familiarity with AWS cloud services<br />Experience with enterprise middleware (WebLogic, CAS or similar)<br />Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices<br />Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies⭐ Desirable Skills Experience with Docker / Kubernetes<br />Exposure to API security protocols (OAuth, JWT, CAS)<br />Experience working in large enterprise environments<br />Knowledge of test automation frameworks What You’ll Get Opportunity to work on large-scale, modernisation projects<br />Collaborative and forward-thinking engineering culture<br />Exposure to cutting-edge cloud and microservices technologies<br />Long-term contract with potential extensions
