Position Overview
Fannie Mae is seeking an experienced Windows Engineering Manager to lead enterprise Windows endpoint engineering and end-user computing initiatives across a large-scale, distributed environment.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on Windows engineering expertise with technical leadership across SCCM/MECM, Microsoft Intune, VDI, Windows 365, Autopilot, endpoint security, automation, OS deployment, and endpoint lifecycle management.
This position requires someone who can lead engineering strategy while remaining technically capable of evaluating solutions, driving pilots and POCs, improving endpoint operations, and supporting thousands of enterprise endpoints.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Windows endpoint engineering and enterprise end-user computing initiatives.
- Manage Windows OS deployment, imaging, troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Lead enterprise endpoint management using Microsoft SCCM/MECM and Microsoft Intune.
- Drive software distribution, patch management, compliance, configuration management, and SCCM/Intune co-management.
- Support modern endpoint strategies including Intune-first management, Windows Autopilot, Windows 365 Cloud PC, and zero-touch provisioning.
- Lead major Windows OS migration and modernization initiatives, including Windows 10 to Windows 11.
- Provide technical direction for virtual desktop technologies such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Develop and promote endpoint automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting technologies.
- Establish endpoint security best practices covering encryption, EDR, identity, device hardening, and compliance.
- Support desktop-related networking technologies including LAN/Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, and DHCP.
- Lead enterprise testing strategies, pilot programs, technical evaluations, vendor assessments, and proofs of concept.
- Use technical analysis and data to recommend endpoint platforms, technologies, and tooling.
- Improve employee/end-user experience through automation, analytics, and modern support models.
- Provide technical leadership across environments supporting thousands of endpoints, multiple locations, and hybrid workforces.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of IT engineering experience.
- 5+ years of enterprise desktop/end-user computing experience, including technical leadership responsibilities.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Windows in large enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with Windows OS deployment, imaging, troubleshooting, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft SCCM/MECM and Microsoft Intune.
- Strong experience with software distribution, patching, compliance, configuration management, and co-management.
- Experience with enterprise VDI technologies such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, or Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Strong scripting/automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
- Experience implementing or supporting zero-touch provisioning and automated configuration management.
- Strong understanding of endpoint security, including encryption, EDR, identity, hardening, and compliance.
- Understanding of LAN/Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and other endpoint-related networking concepts.
- Experience leading enterprise testing, pilots, POCs, and vendor/tool evaluations.
- Leadership experience supporting large-scale endpoint environments with thousands of devices.
- Excellent technical leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
Highly Desired Experience
Candidates will be particularly strong if they have direct experience with:
- Windows 365 Cloud PC
- Windows Autopilot
- Intune-first endpoint management
- SCCM/MECM + Intune Co-Management
- Windows 10 → Windows 11 migrations
- Azure Virtual Desktop
- Enterprise endpoint automation
- Zero-touch provisioning
- Endpoint analytics
- Modern workplace / end-user computing transformation
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidate will be a hands-on Windows/EUC engineering leader, not simply a people manager. They should have managed large enterprise endpoint environments while maintaining deep technical expertise in Windows, SCCM/MECM, Intune, VDI, PowerShell automation, Autopilot, Windows 365, endpoint security, and modern device management.
They should also be comfortable leading engineering teams, evaluating new technologies, running enterprise pilots/POCs, working with vendors, and making data-driven recommendations on endpoint architecture and tooling.
