Job Description:
Healthcare Data Conversion Developer

Location: Remote

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Healthcare Data Conversion Developer to support the migration of clinical and administrative data from legacy EMR systems into Epic. This role is crucial for ensuring data integrity and continuity of care during large-scale EHR transitions related to clinic affiliations and acquisitions. The ideal candidate will possess an architect or developer mindset to help build and refine in-house tools and processes for data conversion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze, extract, transform, and load (ETL) healthcare data from various EMR systems (e.g., Allscripts, Cerner, Meditech) into Epic.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance scripts, tools, and processes for data conversion, focusing on automation and creating more streamlined workflows.
  • Collaborate with clinical, technical, and vendor teams to understand data structures, workflows, and mapping requirements.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all migrated data.
  • Document conversion logic, data dictionaries, and transformation rules.
  • Support go-live activities, including mock conversions, cutover planning, and post-migration troubleshooting.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with HIPAA and other data privacy and security regulations.
Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare data conversion is required. This role focuses on data conversion, not data integration or building new interfaces.

Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with Epic data structures and tools such as Chronicles, Clarity, Caboodle, or Data Courier.
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages (such as Python), and ETL tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, FHIR, and CCD.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Epic certification in Bridges is strongly preferred; sponsorship may be available for the right candidate to obtain certification.
  • An architect or developer mindset with experience building automation tools or streamlined conversion processes.
  • Experience with multiple EMR systems and a solid understanding of various clinical workflows.
  • Knowledge of data governance and master data management in healthcare settings.
