Job Description

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP HCM Payroll Functional Analyst/Configurator to support, configure, and enhance the SAP HCM Payroll (PY) module and related HCM components, including Organizational Management (OM), Personnel Administration (PA), and Time Management (TM). The consultant will be responsible for end-to-end payroll configuration, production support, system enhancements, project delivery, and knowledge transfer while ensuring reliable payroll operations and compliance.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and support SAP HCM Payroll (PY) and related modules (OM, PA, TM).
  • Maintain payroll schemas, payroll rules (PCRs), wage types, taxes (BSI), pensions, deductions, and time evaluation.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production incidents and payroll issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into functional designs and SAP solutions.
  • Configure, test, deploy, and support payroll enhancements and new functionality.
  • Lead SAP HCM payroll projects from requirements through post-production support.
  • Collaborate with business users, technical teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Implement SAP HCM Support Packs, payroll tax updates, and annual year-end payroll changes.
  • Support Chart of Accounts project activities related to payroll configuration, testing, and cutover.
  • Develop and maintain functional specifications, business process documents, workflow designs, test scripts, and training materials.
  • Execute unit, integration, interface, parallel payroll, and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure system integrity by following SAP configuration, security, and change management best practices.
  • Monitor SAP payroll updates and coordinate implementation of SAP Notes and support packages.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to SAP HCM team members and new analysts.
  • Mentor junior analysts and provide technical leadership on HCM initiatives.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience configuring SAP HCM Payroll (PY).
  • Strong knowledge of Organizational Management (OM), Personnel Administration (PA), and Time Management (TM).
  • Experience with payroll schemas, PCRs, wage types, payroll functions, and operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Time Evaluation.
  • Experience with BSI Tax Factory, payroll taxes, year-end payroll processing, and payroll compliance.
  • Knowledge of voluntary and involuntary deductions, garnishments, pensions, and benefits integration.
  • Strong experience in SAP production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience writing functional specifications and supporting SAP development efforts.
  • Strong testing experience, including unit, integration, and parallel payroll testing.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and work independently in a complex SAP HCM environment.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP HCM Benefits Administration.
  • Experience implementing SAP HCM Support Packs and Year-End Payroll updates.
  • Knowledge of SAP HCM security and authorizations.
  • Experience supporting public sector payroll environments.
  • Familiarity with configuring payroll rules for Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and union payroll.

  • Resolve SAP HCM Payroll incidents and service requests.
  • Implement HCM Support Packs and annual payroll updates.
  • Support payroll configuration and testing for ongoing projects.
  • Produce business process, workflow, and functional design documentation.
  • Develop and execute test plans and test scripts.
  • Create user training and knowledge transfer documentation.
  • Provide ongoing support and knowledge transfer to the SAP HCM team.
