Contract Project Manager Workday Implementation

Engagement Details

  • Engagement type: Contract
  • Duration: Ends July 16, 2027
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: Remote
  • Target start date: ASAP

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Project Manager to support the planning and execution of a large, cross-functional Workday implementation. This role will manage the day-to-day mechanics of the project, ensuring that plans, meetings, decisions, risks, dependencies, and deliverables remain organized and moving forward.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of project management experience and has supported Workday or another large enterprise SaaS implementation. This role is well suited to an early-career project manager who has built strong delivery fundamentals and is ready to take greater ownership of a complex project while working alongside senior program leaders, functional owners, technical teams, and implementation partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrated project plan, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and critical-path activities.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Security, Data, Change Management, and implementation-partner teams.
  • Schedule and facilitate project meetings, working sessions, status reviews, and decision forums.
  • Prepare agendas, capture decisions and action items, assign owners, and follow through to completion.
  • Maintain project governance materials, status reports, dashboards, RAID logs, decision logs, and other project documentation.
  • Track risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies; escalate concerns with clear context and recommended next steps.
  • Monitor workstream progress and proactively identify conflicts, resource constraints, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Support requirements, design, configuration, data conversion, integration, testing, training, deployment, and stabilization activities.
  • Coordinate testing schedules, defect-management activities, readiness checkpoints, and deliverable reviews.
  • Work closely with the Workday implementation partner and internal teams to align responsibilities, timelines, and acceptance criteria.
  • Help functional and technical teams convert discussions into specific actions, owners, and deadlines.
  • Support change-control processes and assess the impact of requested scope, schedule, or resource changes.
  • Develop concise project communications for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Maintain organized, accessible project records and ensure that teams are working from current information.
  • Promote consistent project-management practices without creating unnecessary administrative overhead.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of project management or closely related project-delivery experience.
  • Experience supporting complex, cross-functional technology or enterprise SaaS implementations.
  • Experience coordinating internal teams, external implementation partners, and software vendors.
  • Strong command of core project-management mechanics, including planning, scheduling, dependency management, status reporting, risk and issue management, and meeting facilitation.
  • Experience coordinating multiple functional and technical workstreams.
  • Ability to synthesize complex project information into practical status updates, decisions, and next steps.
  • Proficiency with standard project-management and collaboration tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting one or more Workday implementations, deployments, or major optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Workday implementation phases and activities, including design, configuration, integrations, data conversion, testing, training, cutover, and stabilization.
  • Familiarity with HR, payroll, finance, or other enterprise business processes.
  • Experience with Monday.com and SharePoint for project management.
  • PMP, CAPM, Agile, or comparable project-management certification is helpful but not required.
