Job Description
We are excited to be working with an established engineering organisation that is going through a significant period of growth and looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on technically complex products within a highly regulated environment, supporting projects from initial concept through to production.
What You’ll Do
You will design and develop aerospace products from initial concept through to qualification and production. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, customers and suppliers, you’ll turn complex technical requirements into reliable, high-performing and manufacturable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of aerospace products throughout the full product lifecycle.
- Translate customer specifications and airworthiness requirements into robust design solutions.
- Develop detailed product specifications, considering performance, materials, cost, manufacturability and operational efficiency.
- Produce and maintain engineering drawings, 3D CAD models and bills of materials.
- Validate designs through engineering analysis, testing and interpretation of results.
- Ensure products meet performance, safety, reliability and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate non-conforming products and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers and external suppliers.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience, ideally within aerospace or another regulated industry.
- Strong experience using commercial 3D CAD software.
- A solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and product design.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles for component and assembly design.
- An understanding of manufacturing processes such as forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet-metal forming.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- The ability to communicate technical information clearly and work effectively with colleagues, customers and suppliers.

Salary:Up to £60,000 (Dependant on experience)
