Job Description

Project Manager

Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Salary: Up to £65,000 (£70,000 for an exceptional candidate)
Job Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid, typically 3 to 4 days on site per week

Managed complex aerospace or defence engineering projects? Know how to turn ambitious engineering ideas into finished products without the whole thing going off the rails?

We're working with a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing business developing some seriously impressive technologies and lightweight structures for the aerospace and defence industries.

They're looking for an experienced Project Manager who knows what it takes to deliver technically demanding engineering programmes, particularly when new technologies, challenging deadlines and demanding customers are all part of the equation.

This isn't a role where you'll simply update project plans and chase people for progress reports.

You'll take ownership of projects from initial development through industrialisation and into manufacture, making sure the right people, resources and processes come together to deliver.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing complex engineering and manufacturing projects from start to finish.

  • Developing project plans, managing milestones, budgets and resources.

  • Taking projects through development, industrialisation and production readiness.

  • Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain teams.

  • Acting as the main point of contact for customers and key stakeholders.

  • Identifying risks, resolving problems and keeping projects on track.

  • Managing project costs, changes and commercial deliverables.

  • Helping improve project management processes as the business continues to grow.

What we're looking for:

First and foremost, you'll need a solid background in project management within the aerospace or defence industry. That's essential.

You'll also need:

  • Experience delivering complex engineering or manufacturing programmes.

  • A good understanding of bringing physical products from development into production.

  • Confidence managing budgets, resources, project risks and demanding delivery schedules.

  • The ability to juggle multiple projects without losing sight of the detail.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Experience using Microsoft Project and other project management tools.

Experience in composites, advanced manufacturing, NPI or aerospace quality standards would be particularly useful.

APM, PRINCE2 or PMP qualifications would be welcome, but we're more interested in what you've actually delivered than the certificates on your wall.

What's on offer?

  • Salary up to £65,000, with flexibility to £70,000 for an exceptional candidate.

  • Hybrid working, typically 3 to 4 days per week on site.

  • Private medical insurance.

  • Employee share options.

  • Company pension scheme.

  • Opportunity to work on innovative aerospace and defence engineering programmes.

  • Genuine scope to influence how projects are delivered within a growing business.

The bottom line?

If you're an experienced aerospace or defence Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and actually delivering things rather than just talking about them, this could be right up your street.
