Expert Solution Architect – Application & Cloud Migration

Location: Quincy (Boston), MA (Preferred) or Princeton, NJ
Work Model: Hybrid – 2–3 days/week onsite (Mandatory)

Position Overview

We are seeking an Expert Solution Architect to join the Solution Design team. This role is heavily focused on application architecture, leading the design, assessment, and migration of enterprise applications to AWS and Microsoft Azure. The architect will drive end-to-end solution design across discovery, modernization, migration, cutover, and post-migration stabilization while partnering closely with application owners and business stakeholders.

Preference: Candidates with strong Application Architecture experience over pure Infrastructure Architects.

Key Responsibilities

Application & Solution Architecture

• Design Target State Architecture (TSA) for enterprise applications migrating to AWS and Azure.
• Lead application discovery, dependency mapping, and migration assessments.
• Develop migration roadmaps, application inventories, migration waves, and implementation strategies.
• Create Target State Architecture documents including logical and physical architecture diagrams.
• Design application modernization and cloud adoption strategies aligned with business objectives.

Cloud Migration & Modernization

• Lead migration planning and execution for enterprise applications.
• Define migration waves, runbooks, cutover plans, rollback strategies, and Hypercare support.
• Assess existing applications and recommend modernization, re-platforming, or lift-and-shift approaches.
• Coordinate application, database, and storage migrations to AWS and Azure.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams throughout migration.

AWS & Azure Solution Design

Design and implement cloud solutions using services such as:

• AWS EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway
• Azure App Services, Azure Functions, AKS, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Service Bus
• Managed Storage Services

Provision cloud infrastructure using:

• Terraform
• CloudFormation
• Bicep
• Harness

DevOps & Platform Engineering

• Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
• Support CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Containerize applications and deploy to managed Kubernetes/container platforms (EKS, ECS, AKS, App Service Containers).
• Implement environment configuration, application configuration changes, and deployment automation.

Security & Governance

• Ensure cloud solutions comply with security, governance, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in architecture review boards and governance meetings.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and security validation.
• Support SSO integration, Customer Managed Keys (CMK), monitoring, tagging, and FinOps best practices.

Stakeholder Management

• Facilitate technical workshops with business and application teams.
• Review migration strategies and architecture with stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership throughout migration programs.

• Strong experience leading Application Migration programs

• Financial Services or other highly regulated industry experience
• FinOps and Cloud Cost Optimization experience
• Exposure to AI/ML-enabled cloud migration initiatives
