Job Title:  Teacher - English Lead
Location:  Bluebank School, Whittington Moor, Derbyshire, S41 8LQ
Hours:       37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.00pm
Salary:      Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:         October 2026

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic English Subject Lead to drive excellence across our English curriculum and play a pivotal role in shaping teaching and learning within the school. Working closely with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and wider leadership team, you will champion high standards, innovative practice, and outstanding outcomes for students.

In this key role, you will lead curriculum development, mentor and support colleagues, and model exemplary teaching, helping to create a learning environment where students are engaged, challenged, and inspired by English.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and delivery of the English curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
  • Model outstanding teaching and support staff through coaching, demonstration lessons, and guidance
  • Mentor and develop new staff, including NQTs and colleagues taking on new responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with planning, assessment, target-setting, and effective use of data
  • Conduct classroom observations and contribute to performance management processes
  • Stay up-to-date with best practice in English education and share expertise across the department
  • Oversee departmental operations, including weekly meetings, reviews, and documentation

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Qualified: UK QTS or equivalent, with a relevant degree
  • Experienced: Strong understanding of SEN, including ASC, learning difficulties, and complex needs
  • Compassionate & Resilient: Able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may have faced significant challenges
  • Leadership experience, ideally as a subject lead or in curriculum development
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Committed to raising standards, inspiring pupils, and supporting colleagues
  • Full UK Driving Licence
