Engineer III

Role Summary
This Engineer III position oversees the end-to-end process of roadway permitting and access approvals for dynamic power innovation projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with local, state, and railroad regulations while coordinating across multiple stakeholders. It requires technical leadership, strategic planning, and effective negotiation to facilitate safe and cost-efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement roadway and railroad permitting strategies aligned with project schedules and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, environmental, legal, and construction teams to identify suitable crossing locations and access points.
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure traffic engineering, safety, and roadway conditions are effectively managed.
• Negotiate Road Use Management Agreements (RUMAs), Right of Entry (ROE) agreements, and Railroad Crossing Agreements.
• Track and manage permit conditions throughout project construction and roadway restoration phases.
• Design and review haul routes and access logistics, considering weight-restricted roads and local roadway restrictions.
• Serve as a technical advisor on traffic management, maintenance of traffic (MOT), and railroad standards.
• Support stakeholder engagement by presenting project plans and permit requirements at public meetings.
• Monitor compliance with roadway construction standards, including pavement, drainage, and geotechnical aspects.
• Maintain clear documentation of permits, agreements, and correspondence with stakeholders and agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in environmental permitting, transportation, or roadway construction.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex agreements such as RUAs, ROEs, and railroad crossing agreements.
• Strong knowledge of roadway construction, restoration standards, and traffic engineering principles.
• Experience working with local and state agencies, railroad representatives, and public stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize safety and risk management in project planning and execution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general PC skills.
• Availability to work in a hybrid environment with flexibility for site visits and meetings.

Publishing Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00 hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
