What we are looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team, with a strong background in the M&E construction industry and experience working on multi-million-pound projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders, working closely with our Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operational teams to develop robust cost plans and tender submissions.

You will bring strong technical and commercial knowledge, with the ability to review project requirements, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to securing high-quality M&E projects for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical building services projects, including labour, materials, plant and subcontractor costs.

• Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation to establish project scope and requirements.

• Produce detailed take-offs and quantify electrical materials, equipment and labour requirements.

• Obtain and evaluate quotations from electrical suppliers and specialist subcontractors, ensuring best value and compliance with tender requirements.

• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to clarify specifications, pricing and lead times.

• Work closely with the wider Estimating, Pre-Construction, Design and Commercial teams to develop robust tender submissions.

• Identify potential commercial and technical risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions during the tender process.

• Review electrical systems and requirements, including LV distribution, lighting, containment, fire alarms, data, security and associated building services.

• Support tender clarifications, client queries and post-tender negotiations where required.

• Ensure estimates are accurate, commercially competitive and completed within required tender deadlines.

Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in electrical estimating within the M&E/building services industry.

• Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods and relevant industry standards.

• Good knowledge of electrical services including LV distribution, lighting, containment, fire alarms, data, security and associated systems.

• Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.

• Experience producing accurate take-offs, labour assessments and material costings.

• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Good commercial awareness with the ability to identify cost risks, opportunities and value engineering options.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills when dealing with electrical suppliers and specialist subcontractors.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Estimating, Design, Commercial and Operational teams.

• Good knowledge of current electrical market rates, material costs and industry trends.
