Job Description

Lab Summary: The Samsung SOC Lab vision provides innovative SoC architecture, bus / memory subsystem, multimedia subsystems and key IP blocks for future Samsung Galaxy products (Smartphones, tablets and future devices). We are defining the high performance SoC architecture development for various Galaxy device lineups. This lab collaborates with Samsung's strategic SoC partners, Samsung MX headquarter team, and key R&D teams around the globe to innovate and reinvent technology that will positively impact millions of people around the world via the Galaxy flagship products.

Position Summary:

We are looking for interns to participate in system performance analysis, modeling and simulation using SoC modeling platforms and explore hardware/software co-design for features for next generation mobile products. Strong coding skills, operating system understanding, knowledge of computer architecture, and an aptitude for debugging is desired for success for this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Learn to conduct performance modeling and analysis of hardware features, applications, benchmarks, and uses cases.
  • Write SW to automate workload trace collection, processing, parsing and integration
  • Understand Android stack and assist in creating workload models for various use cases.
  • Integrated software workload models with hardware models for IPs and SoCs.
  • Develop understanding of CPU, GPU, NPU operation to help process and analyze the simulation behavior for system level architectural tradeoffs study.
  • Assist in IP integration updates based upon feedback from architectural analysis.

Required Skills:

  • Currently pursuing or within 1 year of graduation of a Masters or PhD in Computer Engineering/ Science
  • Hands on with Python and C++ development. Able to understand GO/TCL/other languages
  • Programming, Data structures and algorithms
  • Coursework or other demonstrable skill in Computer Architecture, ARM preferred.
  • Coursework or other demonstrable skill in Operating System Design
  • Some familiarly with Android OS architecture/application development flow
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation workflows

Special Attributes:

  • Familiarity with IP design tools. SystemC hands on experience is a plus.
  • Hands on work with Gem5 is a plus
  • Knowing basics of AI acceleration is a plus
  • Understanding of Graphics stack on Android and GPU architecture is a plus.

This position is open to candidates who are legally authorized to work in the United States.

The hourly pay rate range for roles at this level is listed below, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the hourly pay rate range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.
