We are seeking a position for "Transmission Power Engineer".
Job Summary:
The Mid to Senior Transmission Power Engineer will take ownership of high-voltage overhead and underground transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV. This role serves as a primary technical decision-maker, leading projects through the full engineering lifecycle from initial routing to final construction deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Take day-to-day responsibility for engineering judgments, structural analysis methods, and line routing selections with a high level of autonomy.
- Perform complete engineering and modeling for high-voltage transmission lines using PLS-CADD software suites.
- Develop comprehensive engineering deliverables, including structure framing, conductor sag-tension reports, clearance calculations, and foundation designs.
- Establish and refine standard design criteria, engineering templates, and quality control workflows to maximize team efficiency.
- Partner with project managers and utility stakeholders to define project scopes and ensure technical alignment.
- Ensure all designs comply with client specifications, environmental requirements, and national standards such as NESC, ASCE, and IEEE.
- Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and QA/QC reviews for junior engineering and design staff.
- Support construction activities by resolving field issues, reviewing material submittals, and responding to contractor RFIs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 12 months.
- Minimum of 4 to 7 years of progressive experience in high-voltage transmission line design.
- Strong proficiency in PLS-CADD, including structure modeling, criteria development, and foundation design software.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical projects, make independent engineering decisions, and defend design approaches.
- Strong leadership potential with the desire to grow into a management role and support team development initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports, specifications, and coordinate with project stakeholders.
