Job Description

We have a new need for a Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery, at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, California

Job Specific Details and Tasks: 

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the facility
  • Perform physical exam and health histories
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions
  • May provide clinical direction or assist in the instruction of care provide by other healthcare professionals within scope of clinical privileges or responsibilities, however, may not serve as Charge Nurse on a unit/ward.
  • Provide clinical direction for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the umit.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.

 

Work Schedule:

Shifts are Sunday - Saturday, 13 hours, with a one-hour lunch

Day Shift: 6:45am - 7:45pm

Night Shift: 6:45pm - 7:45am

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: ASN Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year of post-grad RN clinical labor and delivery experience within the past three years
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license from any state.
  • Life Support Certification: Maintain current AHA or ARC BLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring Certifications.
  • Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
