Job Description
IT/OT Consultant/Architect. Superb client, London based, has a long-term, hybrid Onsite/Remote, Inside IR35 role for an experienced IT/OT Architect.
We are currently seeking an experienced IT/OT Consultant & Architect to support a major manufacturing transformation programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing existing OT environments across multiple manufacturing sites and defining scalable, standardised architectures to support digital manufacturing, operational excellence and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct multi-site OT assessments, maturity evaluations and discovery activities across manufacturing facilities to establish the current OT baseline, identify gaps and define opportunities for standardisation.
- Lead workshops, site surveys, Gemba walks and stakeholder interviews to understand OT systems, industrial networks, data flows, PLC/Scada/Historian environments and IT/OT integration landscapes.
- Define OT Data Foundation and North-Star Reference Architectures, covering edge, cloud, cybersecurity, integration and enterprise manufacturing data platforms.
- Design and standardise OT information models, asset hierarchies, naming conventions and governance frameworks to ensure consistent, trusted and interoperable manufacturing data across multiple sites.
- Architect industrial connectivity and data integration solutions using technologies and concepts including OPC UA, MQTT, Historians and Unified Namespace (UNS).
- Enable Real Time OT data access, enterprise visibility and the creation of AI-ready manufacturing data ecosystems.
- Develop OT transformation roadmaps, technology standards and deployment strategies aligned with wider digital manufacturing objectives.
- Develop business cases and recommendations that demonstrate the value of OT modernisation while aligning with operational excellence and cybersecurity requirements.
- Work closely with OT, IT, engineering, manufacturing, cybersecurity and business stakeholders to ensure architecture and transformation initiatives are practical, scalable and aligned to business objectives.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in IT/OT architecture, consulting or digital manufacturing transformation.
- Proven experience working across multiple manufacturing sites or industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of OT/ICS environments, including PLCs, SCADA, Historians and industrial networks.
- Experience designing IT/OT integration and industrial data architectures.
- Hands-on architectural knowledge of OPC UA, MQTT and Unified Namespace (UNS).
- Experience developing OT information models, asset hierarchies, data standards and governance frameworks.
- Understanding of edge, cloud, cybersecurity and enterprise manufacturing data platforms.
- Experience conducting site assessments, workshops, Gemba walks and stakeholder interviews.
- Ability to translate complex OT environments into clear architecture, standards and transformation roadmaps.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across both technical and business teams.
