A well-established regional law firm is looking for an experienced conveyancing professional to take on a senior role within its Secured Lending team.

This is a role for someone who's comfortable holding both a fee-earning caseload and a supervisory brief at the same time, and who can make confident, well-reasoned decisions on risk.

The Role

You'll manage your own portfolio of secured lending matters, including company borrower transactions, with a focus on the more technically demanding work: transfers of part, lease extensions, grants of lease, transfers of equity and similar.

Alongside this, you'll act as a technical lead for the wider team, mentoring junior members of the team and working collaboratively with the Head of Department.

What you'll be doing

  • Reviewing titles and supporting documentation against lender requirements and internal checklists
  • Confirming compliance with mortgage conditions and specific lender instructions
  • Requesting redemption figures and non-crystallisation confirmations from existing lenders
  • Preparing accurate completion statements and managing file finances
  • Drafting property-related legal documents and client/third-party correspondence
  • Handling Land Registry and Companies House submissions
  • Carrying out client due diligence and AML checks in line with firm policy
  • Reviewing junior colleagues' files and providing COT sign-off, feedback and coaching
  • Flagging material risks or recurring issues to senior management
  • Liaising directly with borrowers, brokers and other parties to keep transactions moving
  • Contributing to process and risk-improvement discussions within the team

What we're looking for

  • Qualified Solicitor
  • Strong secured lending background, confident handling complex matters independently
  • Comfortable providing sign-off, managing risk and escalating where needed
  • Experience (or clear readiness) to mentor and develop more junior team members
  • Excellent organisation and time management - able to juggle a caseload with review responsibilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • IT literate, confident with case management systems
  • High attention to detail and a genuine commitment to client service
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work well under pressure to deadlines
