Systems Integration Engineer Vehicle Diagnostics

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Integration Engineer Vehicle Diagnostics with strong expertise in automotive diagnostics, embedded C++, vehicle communication protocols, and diagnostic algorithm development.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing and validating real-time diagnostic monitors, analyzing vehicle telemetry, troubleshooting field-reported faults, and working across hardware, firmware, controls, and vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement real-time diagnostic monitors using modern C++.
• Develop signal-level plausibility checks, degradation detection, fault detection, and fault isolation logic.
• Perform software unit testing, HIL testing, and automated regression testing for diagnostic algorithms.
• Author formal diagnostic monitor requirements, including detection thresholds, debounce strategies, and fault-response actions.
• Establish traceability between diagnostic requirements and system/component-level failure modes.
• Analyze fleet and bench data to validate and refine diagnostic requirements and algorithms.
• Leverage large-scale telemetry datasets for fault characterization and diagnostic threshold tuning.
• Evaluate diagnostic performance including detection rates and false-positive rates.
• Investigate field-reported faults using telemetry, logged data, and replay tools.
• Perform root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, calibration, and environmental factors.
• Develop technical specifications, design documentation, and service procedures.
• Monitor fleet-wide diagnostic KPIs and recommend improvements to diagnostic algorithms and processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve complex vehicle-system issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6 8+ years of experience in diagnostics, embedded controls, vehicle systems, or related engineering.
• Experience in automotive, autonomous vehicle, aerospace, robotics, or other embedded systems environments.
• Strong hands-on C++ development experience in production or safety-critical systems.
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic standards and protocols including UDS / ISO 14229, DTC management, and OBD-II / SAE J1979.
• Experience with automotive communication networks such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
• Strong Python skills for data analysis and visualization.
• Experience working with large-scale telemetry or vehicle datasets.
• Hands-on experience with control algorithms, state estimation, or model-based diagnostic observers.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to drive complex issues to root cause.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with vehicle health monitoring or prognostics.
• Experience developing diagnostic monitors or fault-detection algorithms.
• Experience with HIL/SIL testing frameworks.
• Experience with fleet telemetry and large-scale data analysis platforms such as Databricks.
• Experience with automotive Ethernet, DoIP, or related vehicle communication technologies.
• Experience in autonomous vehicles, EVs, ADAS, or advanced vehicle systems.
