Job Description

SSite Engineer

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset

Reporting to: Site Engineering Manager

Hours: 50 hours per week (10 hours per day)

Survey Solutions is a leading UK engineering surveying company specialising in land, measured building and underground utility surveys, monitoring and site engineering.

Our teams work on some of the UK's largest and most technically demanding construction and infrastructure projects.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join our team working on a major UK energy infrastructure project.

You will work as part of a specialist engineering surveying team, delivering high-precision setting out, site control and as-built surveys within a complex, highly controlled construction environment.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience working with site controls and construction control networks – essential.
  • Strong experience using Leica equipment and 2STARNET / StarNet software – essential.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining primary and secondary site control.
  • Proven experience in precision setting out within a major construction or infrastructure environment.
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings, construction drawings and BIM models.
  • Strong understanding of survey control, datums, coordinate systems and quality requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.

Experience gained on a major infrastructure, energy or nuclear project would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out internal walls, grid lines, datums and other construction elements.
  • Establishing, installing and maintaining secondary site control.
  • Undertaking accurate as-built surveys and referencing survey data against proposed drawings.
  • Working with site plans, engineering drawings and BIM models.
  • Using Leica equipment and 2STARNET / StarNet for survey control and setting out.
  • Liaising with engineers, designers and construction teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Carrying out quality checks to ensure work meets required tolerances and standards.
  • Maintaining accurate survey records and site diaries.
  • Identifying and resolving technical surveying and setting-out issues.
  • Working in accordance with all project-specific quality, health and safety requirements.

Professional Development

  • Develop technical surveying and engineering skills through practical experience and company training.
  • Attend training and development activities.
  • Participate in regular progression reviews with your line manager.

Health & Safety

  • Follow Survey Solutions and project-specific H&S procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture on site.
  • Complete site inspections and dynamic risk assessments where required.
  • Identify and report hazards and ensure appropriate control measures are in place before work commences.

Location & Accommodation

The role is based on site in Bridgwater, Somerset. Accommodation will be provided for candidates who are not local to the area for the duration of the project, subject to company arrangements.
