An established international precision engineering manufacturer is recruiting a Senior Systems Engineer to join its multidisciplinary R&D team in Leicester.
The organisation develops complex, high-value equipment incorporating precision mechanical systems, electronics, control systems, embedded firmware, sensors and software.
This is a senior technical position responsible for ensuring effective system architecture, requirements management and integration throughout the product development lifecycle.
The Role
As Senior Systems Engineer, you'll act as the technical link between Mechanical, Electronics, Firmware and Software engineering teams.
You'll translate customer and business requirements into technical system specifications, manage interfaces between disciplines and support the successful integration, verification and validation of new products.
The position offers the opportunity to influence technical decisions and contribute to the development of systems engineering processes within an established R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Capture, analyse and translate stakeholder requirements into system specifications, functional architectures and subsystem requirements.
• Manage system interfaces, requirements traceability and technical integration across mechanical, electrical/electronic, firmware and software disciplines.
• Lead system-level design reviews, technical assessments and trade-off studies to balance performance, cost and engineering risk.
• Develop integration, verification and validation plans, ensuring products meet performance, reliability and customer requirements.
• Conduct technical risk assessments, FMEA and root-cause investigations, supporting resolution of complex system-level issues.

Skills & Experience

• Experience as a Systems Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer or multidisciplinary Development Engineer within complex product development.
• Strong understanding of electromechanical systems, ideally incorporating precision mechanics, electronics, embedded firmware, sensors and control systems.
• Practical experience in requirements engineering, system architecture, integration, verification and validation (V&V).
• Background in scientific instrumentation, precision engineering, industrial automation, robotics, aerospace, medical equipment or similar technically demanding industries.
• Degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, or equivalent relevant experience.
