About the Role. G2 Ops supports mission-critical defense and technology initiatives by solving complex operational and engineering challenges. We are seeking a motivated, collaborative Mid-Level Systems Engineer to support mission architecture, interoperability, technical planning, and systems engineering assessments for a Department of Defense customer environment. In this role, you’ll evaluate program engineering and architecture documentation, identify technical risks, support independent technical reviews, and help improve the quality and efficiency of engineering review processes. You’ll work alongside a team that values innovation, technical excellence, and continuous growth. What You’ll Do
- Review Information Support Plans and Systems Engineering Plans for completeness, accuracy, architecture alignment, and JITC compliance.
- Assess system interfaces, information exchanges, dependencies, technical baselines, and operational environments.
- Draft prioritized technical comments with supporting rationale and corrective recommendations.
- Enter approved comments into JASM.
- Support SETR/ITRA activities by evaluating technical readiness, identifying risks, and advising Technical Warrant Holders.
- Develop technical briefs, decision-support materials, and review documentation.
- Participate in technical meetings, review boards, working sessions, and biweekly architecture working groups.
- Promote architecture best practices and support model walkthroughs across program offices.
- Develop an AI-enabled tool to automate repetitive SEP review tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
- 3+ years of professional systems engineering experience.
- Experience with systems engineering, architecture, interoperability, or technical planning documentation.
- Knowledge of system interfaces, technical baselines, dependencies, and operational environments.
- Experience supporting technical reviews, risk assessments, or decision-support activities.
- Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a customer-facing team environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD, Department of the Navy, or other government programs.
- Familiarity with ISPs, SEPs, JITC requirements, JASM, SETR, or ITRA processes.
- Knowledge of mission architecture, enterprise architecture, MBSE, or digital engineering.
- Experience briefing technical findings to engineering leaders or review boards.
- Experience with generative AI, scripting, or workflow automation.
- This is a full-time position supporting mission-focused customer environments.
