Job Description

At Levenfeld Pearlstein, we know that everything starts with the right people. Our mission to provide an exceptional client experience depends upon the talent and commitment of each person in our firm. If you are looking for a different way of practicing law, find out if LP could be the right place for you.

Position: Levenfeld Pearlstein (LP) is currently seeking a Legal Coordinator to support our Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and technical abilities, excel at managing a diverse range of administrative and transactional tasks, and thrive in a collaborative team environment. We are looking for someone who brings initiative, drive, and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of their work. This role is ideal for an experienced litigation professional who values direct partnership with attorneys and meaningful ownership of their work.

About the practice: LP’s Litigation group handles a wide range of business disputes and commercial litigation, including real estate litigation, debtor-creditor disputes, finance and bankruptcy litigation, labor and employment disputes, and professional liability litigation. Clients also turn to us for strategic advising built around their business objectives. We are known for crafting creative solutions inside and outside the courtroom that minimize disruption to business, and for delivering significant value and excellent client service. Learn more about LP’s Litigation group here.

Experience that makes you a fit:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting commercial litigation attorneys in a law firm environment
  • Solid understanding of the life of a case, from complaint through discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal, and the ability to anticipate next steps without direction
  • E-filing and court procedure in the Circuit Court of Cook County (eFileIL/Odyssey) and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (CM/ECF/PACER); Illinois bankruptcy and appellate courts a plus
  • Familiarity with local rules, judges' standing orders, motion calls, and courtesy copy requirements
  • Formatting, proofreading, and finalizing pleadings, motions, briefs, and exhibits, including tables of contents and tables of authorities
  • Preparing first drafts of routine litigation documents from templates, including notices of motion, deposition notices, subpoenas, certificates of service, and basic discovery requests and responses
  • Coordinating depositions, court reporters, videographers, and subpoena service
  • Organizing document productions and exhibits, including Bates labeling
  • Preparing trial and hearing binders, exhibit sets, and courtroom materials, and supporting attorneys through trial
  • Advanced Microsoft Word (styles, pleading formats, TOC/TOA, redlining), Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat (combining, Bates labeling, redaction)
  • iManage experience preferred; familiarity with Relativity or a similar eDiscovery platform and with docketing software is a plus
  • Working with the Docket Clerk to ensure court dates and deadlines are captured, confirmed, and tracked in the firm's docketing system
  • Opening new matters, maintaining electronic files, and managing calendars
  • Invoices, expense reimbursements, travel, and presentation support

This role reports directly to Allison Zacharski, Legal Coordinator Manager. In her nine years of tenure at LP, Allison has developed strong partnerships with each of the firm’s Practice Groups to provide exceptional client service and delivery

Salary and benefits:  The annual salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000. LP believes this is the pay range it will pay for this position at the time of posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be contingent on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant and the requirements of the position. LP offers generous compensation and benefits packages, including medical, dental and vision benefits, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
