Job Description

BPCM is looking for an experienced Account Supervisor to join our Corporate & Lifestyle team. The ideal candidate has strong media relations skills, established editorial relationships and experience helping brands develop compelling corporate and consumer narratives. We are looking for an energetic, proactive and collaborative individual who can provide thoughtful client counsel while guiding teams across communications planning and execution.

Candidates must have at least six years of experience in public relations, communications or marketing in an agency or in-house environment. The role requires a proven track record of securing top-tier coverage, developing media strategies and messaging, identifying creative story angles and managing junior team members. This person will oversee a varied portfolio of clients across categories, such as retail, fashion, beauty and technology, with work spanning corporate positioning, executive thought leadership, and product and brand storytelling.

(are not limited to):

  • Manage daily workflow of a minimum of 4-5 accounts while driving consistent media results: report status of accounts to Director and/or SVP on the accounts
  • Translate client priorities into clear communications plans, including story strategies, media opportunities, tactics, timelines and measurable goals
  • Working cohesively with relevant departments across integrated strategies

Media Relations

  • Develop and execute effective press strategies, which support the brands, innovations, and category launches, including media opportunities, tactics, and timelines
  • Execute and advise on PR strategies and collaboratively develop strategic media plans
  • Maintain and cultivate strong relationships with influential editors, journalists, producers, podcast hosts and other relevant media contacts
  • Proactively pitch and secure editorial opportunities that advance corporate and brand narratives, strengthen reputation and position clients and their leaders at the forefront of their industries
  • Drive a mix of business, trade and consumer coverage, including company profiles, executive interviews, thought-leadership features, trend stories, product coverage and long-form narratives
  • Lead executive visibility programs spanning media interviews, speaking engagements, panels, awards, podcasts, contributed content and other thought-leadership opportunities
  • Have your finger on the pulse on industry news, identifying new coverage opportunities and story angles throughout the year 

Client Relations

  • Serve as daily client contact and act as client lead when appropriate; address client issues thoughtfully and effectively
  • Develop, review and approve agendas, press releases, pitches, recaps, reports, and other materials
  • Lead client meetings and ensure agendas, recaps, timelines and action items are clear, accurate and actionable
  • Ensure client milestones and deliverables remain on track, within scope and aligned with agreed objectives
  • Manage client expectations and assist clients in maximizing relationship with BPCM

Reporting

  • Reviewing media and reports compiled by junior team members on relevant client news and trends
  • Overseeing press credit reporting according to client preference
  • Proficient in MuckRack, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

 

Writing

  • Drafting and contributing to press releases and client materials, such as Q&A’s, that encompass brand messaging and positioning
  • Develop and edit corporate narratives, executive messaging and press-facing materials that clearly communicate client perspectives and support broader reputation goals
  • Advise on select senior executives’ LinkedIn strategy and oversee the development of content that amplifies company news, industry insights and executive perspectives
  • Communicate strategies and ideas clearly and persuasively in writing, presentations and client discussions
  • Overseeing creation, maintenance and timely distribution of editorial reports, press clippings and budgetary tracking documents
  • Exhibiting strong writing, communication, and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas to clients, agency, and colleagues

Team Management & Development

  • Provide guidance and leadership/mentorship to junior-level staff on team issues, account workflow and general account management
  • Participate in the development of materials for new business opportunities including timelines, proposals, business decks and case studies; assist in generating new business leads.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop strategic/creative thinking for clients
  • Help foster an inclusive, collaborative and respectful team environment

 

About you:

  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of PR and/or Marketing experience working in an agency or in- house setting, ideally with sustainable brands
  • College degree – ideally in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
  • Established editorial relationships across a relevant mix of consumer, lifestyle, business and trade media
  • Proven experience developing media strategies, securing meaningful coverage and identifying creative, newsworthy story opportunities
  • Experience supporting corporate communications, executive visibility, thought leadership, and brand storytelling
  • Strong client-management skills and the ability to provide clear, confident and thoughtful counsel
  • Seasoned writing and editing skills, with proven experience drafting executive messaging, thought-leadership materials and press-facing content
  • Strong project and people management skills• Proactively function as a friendly gatekeeper, handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Proactive about finding and presenting solutions

This role will be hybrid, 3 days minimum in our Brooklyn office.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000.00- $100,000.00. Actual compensation is based on a range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location. Whether a prospective employee will be paid within the compensation range listed above will depend on a number of factors including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience and qualifications; the level of specialization the role requires; budgetary considerations, and the local market conditions that exist where the employee will be based.
