Job Description
McCloskey International leads the screening and crushing industry with a complete line of equipment including crushers, vibrating screeners, trommels and stacking conveyors. Built with power and durability as standards, every product is field-tested before being deployed in a wide range of industries around the world. We currently operate across 2 manufacturing sites in Northern Ireland and we continue to grow our market share. Reporting to the VP of McCloskey, the Engineering Director will be responsible for the strategic direction and continuous improvement of the Engineering function at a local level as well as working collaboratively with the Global Engineering functions for the development of the McCloskey Product range. Specific Accountabilities Oversee the effective running of the engineering function. Define long-term Engineering strategies and roadmaps at a local and global level. Determine project priorities and set timelines for completion. Research and implement innovative technologies and systems. Management of specialist and international project teams. Oversee improvement projects in collaboration with Senior Engineers. Overall responsibility for all Design Projects. Engage with and Support Customer/Dealer network to ensure world class service. Implement best practice engineering methods. Providing technical guidance to engineering teams and management. Presenting New Product plans and strategies Finding and implementing ways to improve cost-efficiency throughout the Engineering process. Maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Develops, implements, and maintains engineering standards and policies Overall Health and Safety responsibilities for the department. Coach and develop junior team members along with the Senior Engineers. Complete any special projects as required. May be assigned to other areas of the business, based on business or customer requirements. People Accountabilities Define the departmental structure and team requirements for the relevant department in span of control. Motivates, develops and coaches departmental staff to ensure best performance at all times. Responsible for agreeing and monitoring performance targets in line with efficiency rates. Maintain good relationships with clients and suppliers. Implements best practices processes and working instructions for the Supply Chain teams. Provide leadership and direction to the Supply Chain Team. Lead, manage, control and develop all employees (including SOM, absence, performance management, grievances and Health and Safety Training) using SMART objectives during regular review and feedback meetings. Works closely with relevant functional areas and assigns resources to business improvement projects. Encourage involvement in cross functional teams and company initiatives (Health and safety, charity, problem solving teams). Assess and evaluate training needs of direct reports, ensure training and development needs are met within departmental plans EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: The successful applicant must demonstrate the following to apply for the role Third Level degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with professional qualification A minimum of 5 years experience operating at Director/Senior level within the crushing and screening industry. Significant experience in direct management. Experience of People Management and Leadership in an Engineering Role. Strong Organisation and planning Skills Proven ability to coordinate projects to successful completion Proven ability to develop and empower Team members to deliver results on the frontline Strong collaboration and team building skills. Be an effective team player at a senior level, engaging fully in development opportunities with members of the SMT. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and business Improvement. Outstanding communication (oral/written) skills required. Ability to communicate very effectively. Must be proficient in MS Office (including, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) with a strong knowledge of engineering software.
