Location: REDMOND, Washington (On-site)
Role Overview
An opportunity is available for a hands-on Software Design Engineer II to build and evolve next-generation systems and AI-powered engineering capabilities. The role involves hands-on engineering with complex software and systems environments, offering opportunities to grow into AI-powered software engineering, agentic systems, automated testing, program analysis, and scalable engineering platforms. The ideal candidate is a software engineer who enjoys working across technology boundaries, learning new areas, and turning research ideas into practical solutions.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, debug, and maintain software across systems, AI, and developer platforms.
• Develop software in C/C++, Python, and PowerShell, with potential work in Rust/C#.
• Work with operating systems, system components, virtualization, and systems infrastructure.
• Build automation for software engineering, testing, debugging, and developer workflows.
• Develop and integrate LLM- and Agentic AI-based solutions for software engineering and program analysis.
• Explore automated code generation, test generation, debugging, program analysis, and developer productivity.
• Build tools and services that integrate AI with source code, engineering data, tests, logs, and system telemetry.
• Work with cloud infrastructure, virtual machines, and distributed systems.

Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is required.
Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience is required. This includes experience in large systems software design and development, along with in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems.
Technical Skills: A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design is necessary. Experience in programming and with problem diagnosis and resolution is also required.
