Position: CNC Specialist

Location: Carson City, NV

Job Description:
Client manufactures precision turbine components, including blades and vanes, from nickel-based superalloys. They need an experienced CNC grinding specialist to develop, optimize, and document profile grinding processes for new parts on 5-axis grinding/machining centers, primarily Makino G-series. The role combines grinding, 5-axis machining, and CAD analysis of part geometry.

Skills:

• Strong 5-axis machining knowledge (programming, setup, and toolpath concepts)-MUST
• Significant hands-on CNC profile grinding experience, including process development (not only machine operation)
• Thorough understanding of wheel dressing: how the dresser works, dresser setup, dress parameters, and how dressing affects profile, finish, and cycle time
• Strong CAD skills for interpreting complex part geometry and defining grinding operations (Siemens NX preferred)
• Experience grinding nickel-based superalloys or other difficult-to-machine aerospace materials
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T; experience with precision measurement and inspection

Preferred

• Makino G-series (G5/G7) grinding center experience (strongly preferred)
• Otherwise, will try candidates with Mägerle or Blohm profile/creep-feed grinder experience, but this will be a hard sell
• Turbine component experience (blades, vanes, nozzles, seals) for aerospace or power generation
• Knowledge of grinding burn, residual stress, and surface integrity requirements for turbine parts
• CAM programming for 5-axis grinding/machining (NX CAM or similar)
• Background in AS9100 or similarly regulated quality environments
