Job Description

A leading automotive manufacturer is hiring a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer for its Production Engineering paint equipment planning group in Georgetown, KY. You will evaluate and plan automation robots and expansion projects, process/layout design, equipment specification, cross-plant standardization, and lead-time reduction, supporting conveyor and paint-line projects. 

30% Travel (domestic and international)

100% onsite (local candidates prioritized)

~80% office, 20% shop floor

 

What you’ll do

  • Evaluate and plan automation robots and expansion projects, process and layout design, equipment specification, standardization, and lead-time reduction
  • Support evaluation of equipment project proposals, including process and equipment capability assessments
  • Develop strategies and lead implementation for multi plant equipment deployment and standardization projects
  • Support conveyor and paint line projects, plan equipment and create/review technical and inspection documentation
  • Become an expert in multiple paint-shop technologies and systems, collaborating with cross functional teams
  • Develop equipment standards and specifications, ensuring Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO) compliance and cross-plant standardization

 

What you need

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience; Bachelor’s in Engineering (nice to have) or equivalent engineering/technical experience
  • Experience with CAD or similar modeling software
  • Equipment specification development and technical/inspection documentation
  • Experience creating structured problem-solving reports and equipment-procurement approval documents
  • Ability to identify project constraints and develop effective countermeasures
  • 2+ years of project-management experience
  • Comfortable with ~20% shop-floor work and required PPE (hard hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses)
