Job Summary
The role will serve as the SME for the CEPI SLDS data warehouse, supporting a large SQL Server environment with multiple collection and analysis databases. The position focuses on Azure Database Services, SQL data modeling, extensive ETL development, data pipelines, database administration, performance tuning, security and migration of ETL processes from on-premises to cloud environments.

Required Experience:
- 12+ years overall database/data engineering experience.
- 8–10 years T-SQL experience.
- 6–8 years ETL development experience.
- 5 years PowerShell experience.
- 5 years Azure DevOps experience.
- 5 years Scrum/Agile experience.
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience.
- Strong logical and physical data modeling.
- Data warehouse experience.
- Azure database/cloud migration experience.
- Data pipeline development and maintenance.
- Database security and access control.
- Backup, recovery and disaster recovery.
- Performance tuning and database optimization.
- Data analysis and reporting.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain ETL/data pipelines.
- Perform extraction, transformation and loading activities.
- Develop data preparation jobs, data analysis and reporting solutions.
- Troubleshoot ETL jobs and perform root-cause analysis.
- Design and maintain logical and physical database models.
- Develop data dictionaries and database structures.
- Create and manage SQL database objects using DDL/DCL.
- Perform database performance monitoring and tuning.
- Manage database security and data integrity.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes.
- Support transition of ETL processes from on-premises to cloud servers.
- Perform database backup and recovery activities.
- Support disaster recovery procedures.
- Coordinate database changes with application and development teams.
- Work with business users to incorporate new data elements.
- Support the CEPI SLDS data warehouse and CEDS standards.
Environment:
The CEPI database environment includes:
- Multiple SQL Server instances
- Development, QA/Testing, Pre-Release and Production environments
- Multiple SQL Reporting Services servers
- 35+ collection databases
- 100+ analysis databases
Important:
- Local candidates only.
- Candidate must be located within 90–100 miles of Lansing, MI at the time of submission.
- Must work onsite Wednesday and Thursday every week from Day 1.
- Candidate must be available for a possible in-person second-round interview.
- Candidate should be comfortable working independently as an SME.
