Role Summary
A client of The Intersect Group is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to oversee the accounting activities for a portfolio of multifamily properties. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of property level accounting records, and supporting operational teams with timely financial information.
The ideal candidate will manage multiple properties simultaneously while handling month end close activities, reconciliations, cash postings, accounts payable processes, and balance sheet schedules. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize competing deadlines, and experience partnering with regional managers and onsite property teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of 8 to 10 multifamily properties
• Prepare monthly financial statements and support month end and year end close processes
• Post cash receipts and ensure accurate recording of property transactions
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Maintain and reconcile supporting schedules to ensure financial accuracy
• Process and review accounts payable transactions in accordance with company policies
• Partner with regional managers and onsite property teams to resolve accounting issues and provide financial support
• Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting
Key Requirements
• 5+ years of property accounting experience with a focus on multifamily real estate
• Proven experience managing accounting responsibilities for multiple properties simultaneously
• Hands on experience with RealPage accounting software
• Strong knowledge of cash postings, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience preparing and maintaining supporting schedules and month end accounting deliverables
• Solid understanding of property level financial reporting and real estate accounting principles
• Ability to manage a high volume workload and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with regional managers, site teams, and accounting leadership
