Job Description
Technical Program Manager – Data & AI
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite
Position Type: Long-term engagement
Position Overview
Agile Brains s seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support a major regulated industries client’s growing portfolio of Data, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence initiatives.
This is a highly visible role for someone who excels at turning complex technical initiatives into executable plans and driving them through delivery. The TPM will work at the intersection of business, data, AI, engineering, architecture, and leadership teams, ensuring priorities are aligned, dependencies are managed, risks are addressed, and teams remain focused on delivering measurable outcomes.
The ideal candidate does not need to be a hands-on data engineer or AI developer, but must be technically conversant, comfortable working with technical teams, and capable of translating between business objectives and technology execution.
This is a long-term opportunity with a strong, collaborative work culture and the ability to contribute to high-impact Data and AI initiatives within the utilities industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end delivery of complex Data, Analytics, AI, and technology initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Develop and maintain integrated program plans covering scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, resources, and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate across business stakeholders, product teams, data engineers, data scientists, AI/ML teams, architects, developers, infrastructure teams, and other technology groups.
- Translate strategic and business objectives into clear execution plans and ensure technical teams understand priorities and expected outcomes.
- Facilitate planning, status, dependency, risk, and decision-making discussions across multiple teams.
- Proactively identify delivery risks, blockers, cross-team dependencies, and resource constraints and drive them to resolution.
- Establish clear ownership and accountability for program deliverables and follow through on commitments.
- Provide concise, meaningful program updates to business and technology leadership, clearly communicating progress, risks, decisions, dependencies, and required actions.
- Partner with technical leaders to understand architecture, data dependencies, integration requirements, environments, security considerations, and implementation constraints.
- Coordinate activities across the Data/AI lifecycle, including data readiness, engineering, model or solution development, testing, integration, deployment, adoption, and operationalization.
- Facilitate effective communication between highly technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
- Help teams establish appropriate delivery metrics and use data to identify risks and improve predictability.
- Support Agile and iterative delivery practices while adapting the approach to the needs of each initiative.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and create transparency across complex programs.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in technical program management, technology project/program management, or a comparable technology delivery leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional technology initiatives involving multiple business and technical teams.
- Strong understanding of modern technology delivery and the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, product leaders, and executives.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear business language.
- Strong program execution skills with demonstrated ability to drive teams toward milestones and outcomes.
- Experience managing dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
- Strong facilitation skills and ability to lead discussions involving both senior business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Experience working in Agile, hybrid, or iterative delivery environments.
- Ability to operate effectively in a complex enterprise environment with limited supervision.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work onsite two days per week.
Highly Preferred
- Previous experience managing Data, Analytics, Data Engineering, AI/ML, or Generative AI initiatives.
- Understanding of concepts such as data platforms, data pipelines, data integration, cloud data environments, analytics, machine learning, Generative AI, and AI-enabled applications.
- Experience coordinating initiatives involving data engineers, data scientists, ML/AI engineers, architects, and business SMEs.
- Experience working with cloud platforms and modern data ecosystems.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar delivery-management platforms.
- Utilities or other highly regulated industry experience is beneficial but not required.
What Success Looks Like
The successful TPM will quickly become the connective tissue between business objectives and technical execution. Teams will have greater clarity on priorities, leadership will have better visibility into delivery, dependencies and risks will be surfaced earlier, and Data and AI initiatives will move from ideas and experimentation into measurable business outcomes.
This role is especially well suited for someone who enjoys working with talented technical and business teams, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants a long-term opportunity to help shape and deliver an expanding portfolio of Data and AI initiatives.
