Job Description

This role is 80% mobile automation: building the framework and adding test scripts for the mobile app using Appium with Java or Python. We re looking for a strong IC who has hands-on mobile automation experience, solid testing fundamentals, and can also jump into web automation and testing as needed.
Mobile SDET Intake Notes

- Location: Austin, TX . Onsite 4 days a week or Fremont, CA
  • Rate: $60/hourly on c2c
- Experience: 6 8 years total, with at least 6 12 months in mobile testing.
About the role:
-Mobile app testing role, working closely with the product team.
-Install and test mobile apps on real iOS and Android devices and on simulators, and find issues.
-Test multi-user scenarios.
-About 60% UI testing (usability and functionality), plus some API testing.
-Build and maintain the automation framework.
-All applications are built in-house and cover logistics, vehicles, shipments and inventory. The team uses Jira.
Must-haves:
-Mobile automation with Appium.
-Strong QA fundamentals.
-Web testing experience from previous roles.
-Coding in Python (preferred) or Java.
-Framework development experience.
-API testing with Postman and Swagger.
-Debugging with Splunk.
-Able to work independently and pick things up without depending on others.
-Works well with anyone on the team.
Nice-to-haves:
-Logistics domain knowledge, such as shipment routing and working with carriers like UPS.
-EDI experience.
-Experience using AI tools in testing.
-Background at companies like Apple, GM or Visa.
Interview process
-45-minute technical interview.

-SQL and databases.

The role includes both manual and allocation testing, but we are moving toward an automation-first approach, roughly an 80/20 split. About 80% of the work should be automated where tests are repeatable and high value. The remaining ~20% is manual/allocation testing for new functionality, exploratory work, and cases that still need judgment

JOB TITLE: SDET Engineer

NOTES: Screen candidates on below notes, the main question that needs to be asked is has/can the person write object oriented python code and API testing (I would avoid those who are doing python scripts or having most of their experience being UI testing or using Selenium)

POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you focus on our backend software. This role involves a mix of software development and quality assurance (QA) skills to ensure the reliability and performance of our software products. You are therefore responsible for writing, designing, and implementing automated and manual tests across various software layers, including unit, integration, and system levels. It is an exciting and demanding position that requires you to multitask, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-moving, collaborative environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases to evaluate software performance, functionality, and usability
  • Explore and analyze existing and new features, processes, and user flows to design comprehensive and effective test scenarios
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and develop testing solutions
  • Demonstrate curiosity in uncovering edge cases, rare situations, and hidden dependencies to improve overall software resilience
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills to work in agile, cross-functional teams

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5-8+ years' experience in software testing, test automation, or development is required
  • 2+ years of experience with Python
  • Strong experience with the latest backend web stack technologies such as .NET Core, C#, Python, or Java
  • Experience with frontend web frameworks like React and Angular
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, TestNG, Appium, or similar
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL for querying and verifying data integrity during testing
  • Ability to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines effectively
  • Proficiency with version control systems like Git
  • Understanding of RESTful web services and API testing
  • Fluent English communication skills (both written and verbal) are required, along with flexibility in working hours to collaborate with teams across different time zones
