Principal Engineer – Electrical Engineering (Power) | Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom | Hybrid | Up to £57,500 This employer is a prominent leader within the defence and aerospace sector, recognized for its critical contributions to national security and technological advancement. The Role • Develop design solutions to meet agreed time, cost, and quality milestones. • Manage system or product requirements and acceptance criteria, potentially across multiple systems. • Understand contractual and performance requirements and support their definition and associated acceptance activities. • Produce comprehensive documentation, including diagrams, technical specifications, calculations, and design justifications. • Provide technical support for integrated performance and acceptance, including supplier equipment and customer system acceptance. • Contribute to the development of estimates for work scope and resources for bids and project planning. • Deliver technical input and engineering solutions for build activities, defect resolution, and change management. What You'll Need • BEng (Hons) / MEng degree or equivalent qualification, with Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or the ability to achieve it. • Demonstrable experience across the full engineering lifecycle. • In-depth understanding of at least one of the following: Power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics. • Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems. • Experience working within industry codes and standards in a relevant Engineering role.
