Role: Cloud Security Engineer

Location: DC Metro Area, Rockville, MD (or) McLean, VA (Hybrid 3 days onsite)

Duration: 6 Months with possible extension

Interview process: Prescreen, Phone, Onsite panel

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to develop internal security tools and cloud automation solutions that enhance Cyber Information Security (CIS) operations.
• This role combines software engineering, AWS cloud development, and security engineering to build scalable applications, APIs, and automation that improve security, operational efficiency, and developer productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain internal security tools, applications, APIs, and automation for AWS environments.
• Build automated remediation solutions for cloud security findings, compliance, and infrastructure misconfigurations.
• Develop secure web applications, backend services, and cloud-native solutions using modern programming languages.
• Evaluate AWS services, open-source technologies, and commercial security products through proof-of-concept development.
• Troubleshoot complex application and cloud integrations while supporting production environments.
• Collaborate with security engineers, developers, and stakeholders using Agile development practices.
• Deliver high-quality, maintainable software with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and secure coding practices.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, security engineering, or DevSecOps.
• Strong development experience in one or more of the following: Python, Java, Go, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience building web applications, REST APIs, or backend services.
• Hands-on experience developing applications in AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of application security concepts including authentication, authorization, encryption, secure coding, and vulnerability management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related STEM field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EC2, SNS, SQS, Step Functions, and CloudFormation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar).
• Experience with Spring Boot, Docker, containers, and serverless architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud security automation and security engineering best practices.

Work Environment:

• Hybrid schedule requiring onsite attendance three days per week in Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA.
